General & Account
Why do some players have 110 HP or even more?

Our free VIP users can start each round with 110 HP, and bonus HP can also be "earned" through kills. You can find more info on our VIP features page.

Is playing on the pureAim.org servers free?

You can play on our servers 24/7 for free. Our current optional VIP offering is free as well.

Is VIP free?

Yes, the current VIP features are free. To use them without limits, all you need to do is register for free in our forum (you'll need to verify once via Steam login so we know you're the account owner).

What is a pureAim Community (VIP) account?

The "pureAim Community Account" is a free (extended) forum account. To register in our forum, you'll be asked once to verify your Steam account via Steam login. After that, you complete the normal forum registration and can activate the VIP features permanently. You can then also change your VIP settings directly and conveniently on our website at any time.

VIP is no longer available?

The connection to Steam's servers was likely interrupted: close the game and your Steam client, then restart both — VIP should then work again. If the problem persists, please contact us by email or describe the issue in our forum.

How do I set my chat color as VIP?

As a VIP you can color your nickname in the in-game chat. There are three ways to do this:

  • Via our web interface using a color wheel
  • Directly in the in-game chat with the command !chatcolor HEX-CODE
  • Via the console with the command vip_chatcolor HEX-CODE

A detailed step-by-step guide including sample color codes can be found on our partner site at » Set your CS:S VIP chat color «.

Steam ID & Tools
How do I find my Steam ID?

The fastest way is through the Steam ID Finder on our partner site 4played.net: just enter your profile link, your custom URL, or an already-known Steam ID, and the tool automatically converts it into all common formats (SteamID, SteamID3, SteamID64). A detailed guide covering all formats and methods (Steam client, in-game console) is also available on our partner site at » How to find your Steam ID «.

How do I create my own spray for Source engine games?

With a free VTF Spray Converter you can convert images, animated GIFs and even videos directly in your browser into the Valve Texture Format (VTF) — no upload required, everything runs locally. You'll end up with a VTF and a VMT file, which you copy together into the materials/vgui/logos/ folder of your game (e.g. Counter-Strike: Source). Please observe our terms of use regarding prohibited spray content.

CS:S Guides
How do I open the console in Counter-Strike: Source?

First enable the developer console under Options → Keyboard → Advanced. After that you can open it in-game at any time with the ^ or ~ key. Alternatively, the console can be set to open automatically at startup via the launch option -console in the game's Steam properties. The complete step-by-step guide, including useful commands, is available on our partner site at » Open the CS:S console «.

How do I enable logging in CS:S?

If your game crashes unexpectedly more often, console logging can help with troubleshooting. In Counter-Strike: Source's Steam properties, under launch options, add the command -condebug — all console output will then be saved to the console.log file inside the cstrike folder. The full guide, including where to find the log file, is available on our partner site at » Enable CS:S logging «. If you run into problems on our servers, feel free to send us the file via our forum.

How do I record a demo to report a cheater?

Switch to spectator mode, follow the suspected player, and start recording via the console with record demoname. Immediately afterwards run the command status so the player's Steam ID is logged in the demo, and end the recording later with stop. The finished .dem file will be in your game folder and can be reported to us along with the player's name, Steam ID and server. The detailed guide — including the differences for CS 1.6, CS:GO/CS2 and Team Fortress 2 — is available on our partner site at » Recording a demo in CS:S «.

How do I take control of a bot as a spectator (Botcontrol)?

With our custom-built Botcontrol feature, you can keep playing actively after dying by taking control of a free bot on your team: switch to spectator view, navigate to a free bot on your team, and press "E". This feature is only available on our pureAim Standard (Only) servers, not on Deathmatch or GunGame servers. If you run into trouble taking control, you'll find troubleshooting steps in the full guide at » Botcontrol in CS:S «.
